When to market your book

11 Dec

Most authors believe they should market their books once they’re published. Not so. You should start to market while you are still writing, “whetting the reader’s appetite” for more.

Lately I’ve been reading some fantastic author blogs. These blogs have been posting bits and pieces of their books, while still in production. These posts have achieved their desired effect…to keep me (the reader in this instance) coming back for more. I find myself looking forward to the book being published, when I will be able to buy, and sit down and read the entire book!

How to market your book as you write it? Get yourself an author website or even a blog. Sites such as Blogger or WordPress offer free blogs. They also offer features to where you can set your blog up as a website. Of course you also have sites such as Yahoo that offer cheap options as far as websites go. You’ll be able to keep track of how people are finding your site, etc.

If you do have a bit more money to spend on the whole publishing process, you may even want to speak with a publishing consultant. He or she can help get you started, thus giving you a “jump start” with the entire publishing process.

Cheers and have an inspirational writing kind of day!

You’re absolutely right in there Evin. The marketing of a book starts even before publishing it. For readers like me, you, and everyone else, we tend to be excited if authors give bits of information regarding the whole story of the book. This post will definitely go into my marketing tips category. ^_^

Seriously! You should leave the readers hungry for more. To me, it’s basically like a movie trailer. It leaves the viewers wanting more. 🙂
